Getting to know Marc
What have been some of your most challenging projects?
I pride myself on being able to deal with some of the most challenging projects and designs. I have the ability to transform almost any concept into reality, generally our biggest hurdle is our experimenting with new materials and part of our design process allows our team test each new product under a variety of conditions and scenarios to ensure we delivery not only the latest techniques but can stand behind what we deliver.
What and/or who are some of your design inspirations?
I take inspiration from many different medians, a lot of the styles and trends we take inspiration from originate in Europe and filter into the Australian market as the products and techniques become available. I look towards “Eurocucina” in Milan which is one of the worlds biggest trades fairs focused on kitchen and cabinetry design, this is the Mecca of cabinetry design showcasing the greatest craftsmanship and design in the world.
What makes you stand out among other designers?
I pride myself on the ability to listen to my clients needs and functional requirements, this enables me to tailor the design to the practical side of my client. I then develop the look and feel of the space in a hands on interactive meeting, showcasing different design ideas to find the most suitable fit to my clients style and taste. I also like to look at multiple options to give my client piece of mind and an appreciation for the vast array of combinations available to them. We consider budget with consideration to the size, style and location of a property and guide our clients to a smart investment with maximum impact for the return.
What is your number one tip to clients when planning their new space?
The most important design philosophy I instil in my clients is the idea of intentional design. This is creating a space that is coherent with the whole dynamic of a home. I consider the adjacent rooms or spaces to the area we are focusing on to ensure there is a perfectly balanced flow between and that each choice we have made is sympathetic to the entirety of the home. This allows us to modify an existing space but make it feel like it was designed from the beginning when the home was first constructed.
